Health and Safety Services for Hospitals
Hospitals and other medical facilities have unique needs when it comes to Occupational Health and Safety.
In the past few years, hospitals have been mandated to prepare for community and state-wide emergencies. This increase in emergency preparedness requires hospitals to develop programs and plans, and train their employees in case of a catastrophic event, including those involving deadly contaminants. Hospital management may be looking at a series of OSHA regulations with which they were previously not concerned.
In addition, the healthcare industry has seen tremendous growth necessitating facility expansions. The very environment of a hospital requires special precautions when construction projects are underway. Not only do OSHA regulations apply, but Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) must be taken and The Joint Commission (formerly JCAHO) requirements must be in effect at all times.
