facility and plant management environmental health and safety servicesFacility and Plant Management Environmental, Health and Safety Support Services

Environmental, Health and Safety issues go hand-in-hand with general facility and plant operations. There is a lot to know.

In addition to office and production areas, facilities and plant managers generally oversee the wide range of building structures that may house: shipping and receiving centers; boiler operations and power plants; cooling towers; vehicle maintenance garages; machine shops, paint shops, and facilities for wastewater treatment, and solid waste disposal. Many may also be responsible for large outdoor ground areas, R&D or QA laboratories and warehouses or storage facilities. All of these areas have unique and sometimes complex compliance issues under EPA, OSHA, DOT and state requirements.

At the very least, most facility managers oversee such human health and safety issues as Fire and Life Safety, security and facility vulnerability, the indoor environment and overall housekeeping. However, other health and safety responsibilities that may fall under the "facilities" umbrella include basic worker safety in both production and office areas, emergency response, hazard communication and engineering controls for health hazards. In addition, plant and facility operations personnel very often get involved in environmental management concerning pollution prevention and waste reduction, community-right-to-know, environmental due diligence and building sustainability. In the event of capital improvements or renovations, they may take on the added worry of contractor and public safety.

EMILCOTT has assisted plant and facility personnel with managing all areas of environmental, health and safety. We have expertise in all areas of OSHA compliance, such as: hazard communication, management and mitigation; emergency response, chemical hygiene, and hazardous materials management; plant safety assessments and program development; contractor and construction safety; laboratory health and safety; and employee training. Our environmental specialists can help you with USTs: air, water and wastewater permitting and testing; spill prevention; SARA reporting; and environmental investigations. We also have consultants who specialize in Green Building/LEED certification, Indoor Air Quality, mold investigations, DOT and TSCA compliance, facility chemical security, fire and Life Safety and litigation support.

EMILCOTT has been providing industrial hygiene, environmental, health and safety, services to industry, commercial property owners, utilities, environmental engineering and construction firms, and government agencies for over 20 years.
