The Emilcott Chickadees reached the finish line Saturday night with a grand total of 135 species and a wealth of wonderful experiences.
The Emilcott Chickadees birded the state starting at 3:30am in the Great Swamp and finished in Cape May county at around 11:15pm with many stops in between.
The World Series of Birding is perhaps the world's most famous birding competition. Participants try to identify the greatest number of bird species throughout New Jersey over a 24-hour period. The event is also run as a fundraiser for bird conservation, with participants soliciting pledges for each species they identify. The event is organized by the New Jersey Audubon Society. Final results of the competion are posted on the WSB website.
Through donations and Team support, Emilcott Chickadees have made a significant contribution to the NJAS Citizen Science, both in terms of dollars and raising awareness among other WSB participants about this important program.
