Emilcott Chickadees Finish in the World Series of Birding Top 20

On Saturday, May 10, 2008, New Jersey Audubon proudly hosted the 25th Annual World Series of Birding – North America’s premier conservation event. This event has changed the birding landscape and raised over $8,000,000 for bird conservation. Every species found – every dollar raised preserves and protects critical bird habitat.

Emilcott's Chickadee's are officially in the recordbooks as one of the top 20 birding teams in the world on their 25th anniversary. 68 Teams competed and found 271 species. The Nikon team won with 229 birds.

The Chickadees raised money for the Rancocas Center in Burlington County. The Rancocas Center is located next to the Lenape Indian Reservation and is a hidden gem in one of New Jersey most rapidly developing counties.

The Emilcott Chickadees team boasts a flock of seasoned birders, Bill Margaretta, President of the NJ State Safety Council, Greg Cantrell, from Princeton University, Steve Mattan, and NJ Audubon’s very own Mary Belko and Dr. Nellie Tspoura.
