What You Will Learn
Focusing on OSHA’s requirements for protective systems in excavation, this course covers the use of the many different protective systems, including the newest advances in shield systems, hydraulic shoring and prefabricated trench boxes. Learn how to keep your subsurface work safe and productive by understanding the different hazards associates with excavation and trenching and the proper methods for soil testing. You will acquire the knowledge to classify soil types for stability; how to determine the maximum allowable slope for trench walls; and how to monitor for hazardous atmospheres. OSHA’s training requirements and fall protection for working around excavated areas will also be covered. Attendees will get checklists for Excavation Safety and Soil Analysis.
Who Should Attend?
This training is geared toward managers and supervisors whose employees may prepare or enter an excavation, as well as inspectors, engineers and H&S professionals. It will benefit anyone who works in, enters, or establishes requirements for trenches, excavations and protective systems. This course will meet OSHA’s training requirements for a Competent Person in Excavation.
