What You Will Learn
The course will teach you the principles of laboratory chemical safety, such as controlling physical and biological hazards; how to read an MSDS; the proper use of PPE; and emergency preparedness. Attendees will gain basic knowledge to help them understand laboratory health hazards and the methods of controlling exposure. There will be a special section on compressed gases. The course will also cover the development and implementation of chemical hygiene plans. All participants will receive a Lab Safety Checklist to use back on the job.
Who Should Attend?
If you work in or around a lab, basic Hazard Communication training is not enough! Under OSHA's Laboratory Standard 29 CFR 1910.1450, there are unique training requirements to meet the special health and safety challenges present in labs. This training is necessary for all employees working in or around a laboratory. It will also benefit health and safety personnel, safety committees, human resource managers and supervisors who need to understand these unique requirements.
If your laboratory personnel handle medical samples, waste, or human tissue, they will need Bloodborne Pathogens Training to meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1030. Emilcott can provide this training at your facility. Call 800-886-3645 to find out more.
