What You Will Learn
DOT, IATA and RCRA can be some of the most difficult regulations to get a handle on and they change frequently. This training will answer questions concerning which of these regulations apply and when (even when only small quantities are involved). The DOT/IATA Hazardous Materials Regulations session (addressing the shipping, transporting and receiving of hazardous materials) will be presented from 8am-12pm. The RCRA session (addressing the storage, handling and shipping of hazardous waste) will be presented from 1pm-5pm. Take only one session or both, depending on what you need!
Session One will cover the intentions and basics of the DOT Hazardous Materials regulation and cover the IATA requirements for air shipments. You will learn about the Hazardous Materials Table, shipping papers, determining the proper shipping name, emergency information, packaging and transportation.
Session Two will cover RCRA requirements such as hazardous waste determination, generator categories, EPA hazardous waste codes, universal waste, manifesting, labeling, storage, and emergency contingency plans. After completion of the program you will be able to identify the regulations that apply to your operations, learn and understand their overall requirements, and (most importantly) how to manage those requirements. Included in this course are techniques for maintaining documentation, integrating plans and data for the consolidation of training, yet still meet all regulatory requirements.
Who Should Attend?
These two courses are designed for managers, supervisors or anyone who needs initial or refresher training to comply with DOT/IATA or RCRA regulations for the handling, shipping or storage of hazardous materials and waste. It will be particularly valuable for those with any responsibilities for health and safety at their job sites.
