What You Will Learn . . . This course will cover issues relevant to the health and safety of workers in the construction and the buildings and trades disciplines. It was developed by OSHA to promote safe construction workplace practices. You will get instruction in a variety of construction industry issues including an introduction to OSHA, OSH Act/General Duty Clause(a) (1), general health and safety provisions and the concept of "Competent Person". Topics will include: motor vehicle, mechanized and construction equipment safety; electrical safety, excavation and trenching; fall protection; PPE and lifesaving equipment; fire prevention and protection; signs, signals and barricades; and the latest OSHA Recordkeeping requirements.
Who Should Attend? This course is recommended for all personnel working in the construction trades, hazardous waste operations, utilities, and facilities maintenance / management to become familiar with health and safety issues related to construction activities. It will also benefit engineers, surveyors, geologists and environmental professionals who may have project or job site management responsibilities over construction activities. More and more job owners are requiring this training for contractors and OSHA frequently issues citations for "lack of proper health and safety training" under the Construction Standard.
This course is administered by an OSHA Authorized Instructor. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a OSHA -issued course completion wallet card
